Led Zeppelin reunion postponed

Eager music fans awaiting rock’s most hyped reunion will have to wait a little longer, it emerged today. ’s guitarist Jimmy Page has fractured a bone in his finger, which will impair his ability to hammer out the band’s trademark riffs for at least two weeks.

Announcing the cancellation of the November 26 concert, 63-year-old Page said he would not consider playing without all of his digits in good working order. “I am disappointed that we are forced to postpone the concert by two weeks, however, have always set very high standards for ourselves, and we feel that this postponement will enable my injury to properly heal, and permit us to perform at the level that both the band and our fans have always been accustomed to.”

The band, who will now perform on December 10 at London’s O2 Arena, have not played live since a somewhat muted European tour in 1980. Late that same year, their hard-hitting, hard-drinking drummer John Bonham died at the age of 32.

There was a huge rush for tickets, with over 1,000,000 applications being submitted to the Ahmet Tribute website, when it was announced, in September, that the band were reuniting for a one-off show. Rumours persist that they are considering expanding the reunion into a full US tour.

Ticket holders have been advised that their tickets remain valid for the new date, and that any applications for returns should be submitted before noon on November 14. Any returns will be offered to unlucky applicants of the original ticket lottery the following day.

‘Mothership’ a remastered CD retrospective is due for release on Novermber 13th and a revised DVD of their flawed but still thrilling concert film ‘The Song Remains the Same’ will follow a week later.
